1 in critical condition after Fox River boat crash, fire official says

TROUT VALLEY – One person was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington in critical condition after a boat crashed into a dock on the Fox River, Cary Fire District Lt. Michael Douglass said.

The incident occurred about 3 p.m. Friday near 217 River Drive, Trout Valley.

Douglass said the male subject was unconscious at the scene. Cary Fire Protection District responders called for a Flight For Life helicopter, but the request was canceled after paramedics decided to transport him to the hospital instead.

A CFPD boat searched for any additional people that might have been on the boat. Douglass said no one else was located in the river, and a witness said they didn’t see anyone else.

The Fox River Grove Fire Department and the CFPD were on the scene, Douglass said. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the crash, Douglass said.
