$36K worth of heroin seized in search of McHenry home

MCHENRY – The McHenry County Sheriff’s Police Narcotics Task Force on Friday announced the arrest of Brian Freund following the execution of a search warrant that led to the seizure of about $36,000 worth of heroin.

On July 26, members of the Narcotics Task Force served a search warrant in the 3900 block of Main Street in McHenry and said they recovered about 180 grams of heroin, two scales, packaging materials and $963 from Freund’s home.

Freund was not home during the search, but he turned himself in to the McHenry County Correctional Facility on Monday, authorities said. Freund was released the same day after posting 10 percent of the $150,000 bond. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Police Narcotics Task Force estimates the heroin seized has a street value of about $36,000.

Freund’s charges include unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

His next court date is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday.
