Motorcyclist in critical condition after Richmond crash, fire official says

Route 12 closed from Route 31 to Hill Road

RICHMOND – Two people were sent to the hospital Wednesday night after a motorcycle and SUV crashed, a fire official said.

Richmond Township Fire Protection District Chief Rick Gallas said just before 6 p.m. crews responded to Route 12, near Depot Restaurant.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 26-year-old man, was taken by Flight for Life to the Level 1 Trauma Center at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Gallas said. He said the man was in critical condition.

The driver of the SUV was taken to Centegra Hospital – McHenry with injuries that were not considered to be life threatening, Gallas said. There were no passengers involved, and Gallas did not have anymore information on the people involved.

The crash closed Route 12 between Hill Road and where Route 12 turns into Route 31 at Tryon Grove Road, Gallas said.

He said McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Richmond police and Spring Grove police also responded.

Police could not immediately be reached for more information.
