U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam, R-Wheaton, is seeking his sixth term representing Illinois’ 6th Congressional District. He is facing a challenge from Democrat Amanda Howland of Lake Zurich.
A member of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, Roskam lists as his priorities maintaining a strong U.S. national security, fixing what he says is a broken health-care system, demanding accountability from all levels of government, reforming the tax code, and strengthening the American family.
A fiscal conservative, he supports reducing government spending and reforming Medicare.
Howland is a former educator, an attorney and member of the College of Lake County board.
The 6th congressional district encompasses parts of Cook, DuPage, Lake, Kane and McHenry counties, including Algonquin, Cary, Lake in the Hills and parts of Crystal Lake.
Roskam is endorsed.
