LAKEMOOR – The Wauconda Fire District responded to a barn fire that destroyed the entire structure Saturday morning.
Crews were called about 2:35 a.m. to 28699 W. Belvidere Road, Lakemoor. Upon arrival, fire officials reported a fully engulfed barn fire. The main body of the fire eventually was controlled, and fire officials deployed hand lines to extinguish the remainder of the fire.
According to the fire district, the structure appeared to be abandoned, and there were no animals housed inside the barn.
Fire units from McHenry, Fox Lake, Round Lake and Nunda Rural were called to the scene to assist. Barrington and Fox River Grove also assisted by covering the Wauconda stations in case of other emergency calls.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no damage estimates were immediately available, Wauconda fire officials said.
