Latest Book: “24 Ways to Pray Through Your Day”
Publisher: Nenn Pen, Ink
Release Date: April 20, 2016 (ebook), Oct. 13, 2016 (paperback)
What’s your new book about?
Is your day slipping by without prayer? Do you keep waiting for the perfect time or some peace and quiet? In the midst of the busyness, the stress, the to-do’s and the to-don’ts, those moments never seem to come. They don’t have to. God gives us moments throughout our daily chaos to call out to him. We simply need to recognize them. When we do, prayer is no longer something we try to work into our day. It becomes our day.
Learn two dozen ways to transform each moment of the day into time with God.
Where did the idea come from?
I’ve heard a lot of people talk about their struggles with finding time to pray. I realized people are missing so many opportunities to pray while they are waiting for the perfect moment.
What genre is your book, and why were you drawn to it?
Christian Living. As a Christian, my desire is to use my God-given passion for writing to help equip others with the armor they need for the battles they face.
Who is the intended audience?
Adults who feel frustrated with a lack of time for prayer, and those who are interested in learning new ways to identify opportunities for prayer.
Why is this story important to you?
I believe prayer is powerful and effective. I pray this book helps others seek God more often and in new ways.
How long did it take you to write? What was your process?
I wrote the book over a period of a few months, with a writing goal of at least one Way each week. A graphic designer created the cover for me. After several rounds of proofing and editing, I published it as an ebook in April 2016. With some additional formatting, I then released it as a paperback in October 2016.
What did you enjoy most about writing this book? What was the hardest part?
I most enjoyed creating the fun and quirky titles for each “Way” to pray, and sharing the stories of how God uses each Way in my life.
The hardest part was getting everything formatted correctly for publication. I’m such a perfectionist, and there are so many places for potential errors.
How are you publishing this book and why (traditional/indie/self-publishing)?
I went through CreateSpace for indie publication. This is an affordable option that gets my book out there to the worldwide audience on Amazon.
What is your education/background?
I have a bachelor’s degree in social work. I am a full-time freelance writer who contributes to industry-leading websites, blogs, newsletters and magazines.
How/why did you decide to write a book?
My desire is to share what God teaches me, to encourage others who share similar struggles in their lives.
Who are your favorite authors?
Shel Silverstein, Stephen King
Pick one: Danielle Steel or John Grisham?
Pick one: Stephen King or Nicholas Sparks?
Pick one: Ebooks or hard/paperbacks?
Have you written anything else?
“Random Thoughts,” 2011 Lighthouse Publishing (also available on Amazon)
What’s next for you?
This book is the first of a series I have planned. I am working on the second book, “24 Ways To Serve Through Your Day.”
