High school girls bowling roundup: Marengo's Secor, Anthony advance to Belvidere Sectional

Marengo’s Leah Secor and Megan Anthony advanced as individuals from the IHSA Boylan Bowling Regional on Saturday to next week’s Belvidere Sectional.

Secor rolled a 1,209 series to place 15th overall; Anthony recorded a 1,187 for 19th. The top 10 individuals not on advancing teams move on to the sectional tournaments. Secor was third among those not on advancing teams; Anthony was fifth.

Dundee-Crown Regional: Jacobs’ Marie Beyer and Brianna Schmidt were the area’s top individuals at the tournament and advanced to the Belvidere Sectional with scores of 1,143 and 1,130, respectively.

Dundee-Crown’s Taylor Gonio (1,112) and Ileana Fribley (1,051) also advanced.

Huntley qualified as the fourth-place team with a score of 5,123. Marissa Bousk (1,127), Hailie Nosek (1,027), Shaelyn O’Riley (1,005), Nicole Ciccione (998) and Kaitlyn Clutter (966) competed for the Red Raiders.

Grayslake North Regional: Alyssa Michmershuizen rolled a 1,100 to lead McHenry’s team to a qualifying spot in fourth place with 5,122 pins. Becca Beaman (1,049), Kaitlin Kleimann (999), Destiny Draheim (992) and Amber Wells (982) rounded out the Warriors’ scoring.

Johnsburg’s Emily Owens (1,086) and Samantha Smith (1,057) qualified as individuals.
