The HB 40 bill reinstates taxpayer-funded abortions for Illinois Medicaid recipients and adds abortion coverage in state employees’ insurance plans. HB 40 also will remove language from the Illinois Abortion Law of 1975, which states, “the unborn child is a human being from the time of conception, and is, therefore, a legal person” and further declares the only reason the state does not prohibit abortion is because of the Supreme Court’s Roe vs. Wade ruling, legalizing abortion.
The bill is on its third reading and the Illinois House of Representatives may be called to vote on it at any time.
Everyone who believes in the rights of the unborn, your Illinois representative must hear your voice! Contact your representative today and implore him/her to vote no on HB 40. Make your voice heard by email, phone calls or Facebook. The people of this state who believe in the sanctity of life should not be forced to pay for abortions through the full nine months of pregnancy.
