McHenry County College offering spring craft classes

CRYSTAL LAKE – McHenry County College’s Continuing Education Department is offering a series of craft classes this week, including hand-painting Easter eggs and creating fused-glass ornaments.

These classes are available:

• Sip and Paint Easter Egg Experience: A evening hand-painting Easter eggs where participants will get three eggs to paint and the instructor will guide class members on how to use bright, brilliant colors and stencils to create a unique style.

All materials are included. The class is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Handmade on Main, 320 S. Main St., Algonquin. The cost is $39 a person. When registering, use course code NCF S11 001.

• Fused Glass Workshop I: The class teaches basics of kiln-fired glass, which also is called fused glass. Characteristics of fused glass materials, assembling techniques and firing guidelines will be covered in class. Supply costs are not included in the course fee.

Supplies will be available on-site, ranging from $12 to $55. Several jewelry and ornament projects are available, and students will complete a minimum of three projects.

No glass crafting experience is necessary, and tools will be provided. The class is from
7 to 9:50 p.m. Wednesday at Material Things, 103 W. Van Buren St., Woodstock. The cost is $32. When registering, use course code NCF S34 024.
