High School Boys Track and Field: Evans leads Prairie Ridge to second

Prairie Ridge junior Samson Evans took two seconds and a third to help the Wolves place second in the team standings Saturday at the Byron Indoor Classic Track and Field Meet.

Evans was second in the 200 meters and long jump and took third in the 55. He has not run competitive track in high school, but showed his speed on the football field as quarterback for the Class 6A state champion Wolves.

James Lasak won the 800 for Prairie Ridge, while Filip Pajak was second in the 3,200 and Mike Ostrow was third in the 1,600.

Crystal Lake Central took third as a team, led by Weston Sterchi, who won the 3,200 and 1,600.

The Tigers’ Colin Braun won the 400, Eddie Diaz was second in the pole vault and Richard Logan was third in the high jump.
