McHenry right-hander Bobby Miller struck out nine batters over four innings Monday as the Warriors won their baseball season opener, 10-0, over host Antioch in five innings.
Miller walked two and allowed one hit in the nonconference win.
At the plate, Miller, Jared Wojcik, Dylan Honkala and Nick Finley each had two RBIs for McHenry (1-0). Miller and Honkala hit doubles. Miller scored three runs. Colton Klein was 3 for 3 from the plate with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI.
Marengo 11, Jefferson 1: At Marengo, Matt Meranda threw all five innings and surrendered two hits and one earned run in a nonconference victory over Jefferson. Meranda struck out four batters and walked three.
At the plate, Dan Larson was 2 for 2 with a double and two walks for the Indians (1-0). Danny Schenk was 2 for 2 with two stolen bases, a run and an RBI. Alex Schirmer was 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored.
Crystal Lake Central 6, Marian Central 1: At Woodstock, Adam Wittenberg and Connor Burns each knocked in two runs as the Tigers defeated the Hurricanes in their season opener at Thomas F. Bolger Field.
Anthony Novy (1-0) pitched five innings and struck out four in the nonconference win. Anthony Ruffalo threw the last two innings and struck out two for the Tigers.
Central scored four runs in the third inning. Burns doubled in that inning and drove in two. Wittenberg also had a double.
Barrington 5, Prairie Ridge 1: At Barrington, the Broncos’ Ryan Loutos was tough on the Wolves (1-1) with 12 strikeouts and no hits over six innings in their nonconference game.
Zach Teegen ended the no-hitter in the seventh off reliever Eric Kozlowski with an RBI double. Loutos threw 66 pitches over six innings.
Woodstock North 10, Round Lake 0: At Woodstock, Thunder pitchers Cory Busse, Zach Johnson and Dain Glaves combined for a one-hitter in a season-opening win.
Busse threw 3 2/3 innings with six strikeouts, one hit and one walk in the nonconference game.
Nicco Mazzanti was 1 for 1 with three RBIs to lead the Thunder offense. Aaron Montgomery and Colin Ritter each had a pair of hits and one RBI.
Belvidere North 11, Harvard 0 (6 inn.): At Harvard, the Blue Thunder handed the Hornets a nonconference loss in their season opener. Josh Peterson and Ryan Stephens each had one hit for the Hornets’ only hits of the game.
