High school softball roundup: Woodstock North's Ellie Thurow throws no-hitter vs. Round Lake

Woodstock North pitcher Ellie Thurow threw a no-hitter in an 8-0 nonconference win over Round Lake on Monday in Woodstock. Thurow struck out 15 and walked none. Thurow threw all seven innings for the Thunder.

At the plate, Thurow had two doubles and a walk. Mackenzie Spung had a single, a double and a walk for the Thunder. Spung also stole three bases.

Marengo 4, Lakes 2: At Marengo, Riley Connell struck out nine in seven innings, allowing two earned runs in a nonconference win over Lakes. 

Leah Secor was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. for the Indians (2-0). Susie Nawrot was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. 

Carmel 14, Cary-Grove 9: At Mundelein, nine players drove in a run for the Trojans in a nonconference loss to Carmel. Alina Krembuszewski, Katy Wierczorek and Jazz Flashing each had two hits and drove in one run. 

Emma Hill surrendered eight runs from the circle, but only three of them were earned. She started the game and pitched two innings. Taylor Langguth threw four innings and gave up six earned runs, striking out five and walking two.
