WOODSTOCK – A Lake in the Hills man accused of sexually abusing a girl has been charged with additional sex crimes involving a second victim.
Edgar Arana, 71, appeared in McHenry County court Friday on new charges after he was arrested again and posted 10 percent of $50,000 bond about a week ago.
The charges, two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, stem from a June 2011 incident against a female who was younger than 18, according to court records.
Arana was previously charged in December with six counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, Class X felonies, and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, Class 2 felonies, after Woodstock police learned about the allegations based on information from the Child Advocacy Center of McHenry County.
The crimes took place in more than one police jurisdiction, and they were initially reported to the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services, police have said.
During an interview conducted by counselors with the child advocacy center, the victim said that Arana had committed acts of sexual abuse against her on several occasions, police said.
The last time an act had allegedly occurred was Dec. 17 at Classic Cinemas in Woodstock while watching a movie.
Arana faces six to 30 years in prison if convicted of the most serious charge.
