No local competitors were left standing after the first day of the Class 2A Cary-Grove Sectional boys tennis meet.
Crystal Lake South's Nicholas Thome was the area's highest-seeded singles player. Thome won his opening-round match 6-4, 6-4, before falling in the quarterfinals.
Crystal Lake Central's John Wallace also reached the quarterfinals with a 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 win in his first match. He then was eliminated in a 6-3, 6-4 loss.
In doubles, Cary-Grove's Luke Weber and Kevin McDonald won, 6-2, 6-1, in their first match and followed it with a 6-1, 6-0 loss in the quarterfinals.
Prairie Ridge's Daniel Lamar and Patrick Nasta suffered the same fate, winning, 6-0, 6-0, before dropping a 6-3, 6-2 decision.
Class 2A Huntley Sectional: Rain forced play to be postponed until Saturday.
