McHENRY – The McHenry County Sheriff's Office has charged a 22-year-old Wonder Lake man in connection with a hit and run crash that seriously injured a Woodstock pedestrian early Sunday.
Alexsandro J. Tackett, of Wonder Lake, was charged Sunday with leaving the scene of an injury accident and failure to report an injury accident. He was not injured in the crash, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
A preliminary investigation indicates that about 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Tackett was driving southbound on the 3000 block of Lincoln Road near Emily Lane in a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu sedan when he hit a 48-year-old Woodstock man who was near the edge of the road, according to the release.
Tackett left the scene and deputies later found the car in McHenry. Airbags weren't deployed. Lincoln Road was closed for more than five hours over the course of the investigation, according to the sheriff's office.
The McHenry Township Fire Protection District took the victim to Centegra Hospital – McHenry, and Flight for Life then flew him to Advocate Condell Medical Center, where he is in stable but critical condition.
Tackett will appear in court at 8:30 a.m Monday. His bond is yet to be set.
