Johnsburg announces 1st class in athletic hall of fame

Johnsburg High School announced the first class in its athletic hall of fame this week. Plans for the Skyhawks’ Athletic Hall of Fame began in 2015 with the formation of a hall of fame committee. 

The first class will be inducted Feb. 9 at the Johnsburg boys basketball home game against Richmond-Burton. 

Johnsburg Hall of Fame inductees:

Member (Class), sports

Don Bentz (1979), football, basketball and baseball, also a former coach

Melissa Dixon (2011), basketball

C.J. Fiedorowicz (2010), football, basketball, track

Paige Fiedorowicz (2007), volleyball, basketball, track

Lora Jacobs (1980), volleyball, basketball, softball, also a former coach

Michelle McDonald (2008), volleyball, basketball, softball

Katie Parker (1995), softball

John Smith (2003), basketball

Jim Meyers, athletic director from 1978 until 2003, coached football, baseball, softball

2002-03 boys basketball team: Finished with a 30-2 record, won the Big Northern East conference title, won IHSA regional, sectional and supersectional titles, competed in the Class AA quarterfinals in Peoria.
