Letter: Volunteers, companies helped make Patriot Run a success

To the Editor:

Once again, the McHenry County Patriot Run hit it out of the park.

As it has become known as the best 5K of the summer, the Patriot Run did not disappoint.

For those of us who want to show our veterans we appreciate all they do, this is a place to do it.

Several major corporations put their money where their mouth is and both sponsored and brought their employees to this celebration. This is true family fun with a patriotic focus. Some have participated all four years in what has become a family tradition.

About 500 people showed up June 25 at McHenry County College and helped raise much-needed funds for those who risk their lives to defend our way of life, our veterans.

More than 1,000 American flags bordered the course and Northwest Highway. Seventy volunteers helped make the event go smoothly.

A huge thank you to all of them.

More than $30,000 was raised again. TLS Veterans and the VAC are two of the recipients of these proceeds.

Thanks to Sage, Centegra, Northwest Herald, JA Frate, BMO Harris, Dorian Gray Retirement, Ed’s Rental, Brilliance Honda, Curran Contracting, Advocate Good Shepherd, STAR 105.5, Infinium Marketing, CL Graphics, Running Depot, Smith Running Academy, McHenry County College, McHenry County Community Foundation and In Sync Systems.
