CRYSTAL LAKE – A Crystal Lake man accused of theft in Kane County rolled his Camaro on Route 72 about noon Friday, after leading police on a short-lived chase, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
Roland D. Gastfield, 20, of Camelot Drive in Crystal Lake, was driving a black 2013 Chevrolet Camaro that was reported stolen from an Elgin car dealership, the release said.
A black Camaro had fled from a Kane County Sheriff’s deputy before noon and was traveling west into DeKalb County, the release said.
The Kane County deputy ended the chase for public safety, and DeKalb County deputies responded to the rollover on Route 72, west of New Lebanon Road, the release said.
A man, later identified as Gastfield, was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening and taken to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin under Kane County Sheriff’s Office guard, the release said.
The Hampshire Fire Department also responded to the scene, and charges against Gastfield are pending, according to the release.
