McHENRY – River Road in McHenry is closed between Fernview Lane and the William G.-Thomas A. Bolger Lock and Dam because of extreme flooding, according to a Nixle alert from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

The road will be closed until further notice, according to the alert, which was sent about 2 p.m. Sunday.

As of about 1:15 p.m. Sunday, the Fox River at the McHenry dam reached 7.28 feet, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Flood stage is at 4 feet, according to the survey.
