Cary-Grove senior Tabor Gleason tied for third in the 17-to-18-year-old girls high jump Thursday at the AAU National Track and Field Junior Olympics at Eastern Michigan’s Rynearson Stadium in Ypsilanti.
Gleason cleared 5 feet, 3 inches to tie with two other jumpers for third place. Sydney Lane, of Keiser, Arizona, won the event at 5-7, while Taylor Ramsey, of Florissant, Missouri, was second at 5-3. Ramsey had fewer misses than Gleason and the two other competitors who made 5-3.
Gleason has been one of the area’s top girls track and field athletes in recent years. She tied for third in the Class 3A high jump at the IHSA state meet this spring, making 5-5.
Gleason was second in the McHenry County Meet, making 5-5, and won the Fox Valley Conference title with her career-best 5-6.
