Letter: New highway commissioner doing great job

To the Editor:

I am writing you to express my gratitude to Algonquin Township and especially Andrew Gasser for the exceptional effort and support offered our community throughout this record flood. Andy had his work cut out for him as the newly elected highway commissioner.

The flood introduced a daunting event, yet Andrew rose to the challenge. He called me and my neighbors personally to ask what we needed.

He delivered sand and bags by the truckload. He arranged for port-a-potties to be delivered to residents with septic issues. He was in my neighborhood assessing damage and providing first-hand support every step of the way.

Andy is a man of his word. He told us what he could deliver and when, and he did. I am so very grateful to Andrew. I can only imagine the responsibilities, coupled with opposition, he has faced daily.

I want to share with your readers the great job Andrew is doing and acknowledge his efforts and dedication to community. Thank you, Andrew.
