WOODSTOCK – More than a month after a Crystal Lake double homicide, authorities have released the name of the teen girl killed.

McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski on Wednesday identified the girl as Anniyah Reynolds, 15, of Crystal Lake. She was the sister of 31-year-old Allania Yarber. Both were found shot to death Aug. 3 in a house at 185 Marian Parkway in Crystal Lake.

Ryan C. Yarber, the 31-year-old husband of Allania, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the killings. He remains in jail in lieu of $5 million bond.

Majewski initially refused to release the name of the teen because of the girl’s age and a request by family.

The Northwest Herald sought the information through a Freedom of Information Act request, which Majewski denied. The Northwest Herald appealed that decision to the Illinois Attorney General’s Public Access Counselor’s Office.

McHenry County State’s Attorney Patrick Kenneally’s office responded with a 4-page memo arguing against the release of any records.

On Wednesday, Majewski reversed course, released the name and said her office policy regarding the names of minors would be amended after talking with the State’s Attorney’s Office and Deputy Public Access Counselor Neil Olson of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.
