JOHNSBURG – Four fire departments responded Tuesday night to a fire at a well-known restaurant on Pistakee Lake in Johnsburg.
But all it took to put out the fire was a garden hose.
The McHenry Township Fire Protection District was dispatched to Cabana’s on the Chain with two engines and 10 personnel for a report of a structure fire, and arrived in seven minutes, according to a news release from the district.
That’s when they learned the fire was extinguished by a person with a hose.
“The fire started on the outside of the building in a corner behind a small wooden enclosure,” the department said in the news release. “The fire was contained to the outside of the building, with no damage reported inside the building.”
The Wonder Lake, Fox Lake and Spring Grove fire departments responded but quickly left once the fire was confirmed to be out. Johnsburg police also responded.
There were no injuries, and the business remained open.
Damage is estimated at $3,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is believed to be accidental, according to the release.
