The Marian Central girls golf team took third overall at the Class 2A Freeport Regional on Wednesday at Park Hills Golf Course in Freeport. The Hurricanes advanced their entire team to Monday’s Barrington Sectional at Makray Memorial Golf Course.
Lauren McNulty led Marian with an 89. Maria Mercurio shot a 90, Ally McNulty shot a 98, and Danielle Lattanzio shot a 100.
McHenry’s Joely Pugliese advanced to the sectional with an 87, and Woodstock’s Kenna Miles advanced, also with an 87. Three Prairie Ridge golfers advanced: Morgan Taylor (91), Sophia Pascente (93) and Grace VanHyfte (96).
Rockford Guilford won the regional with a 320. Marian finished at 377. Prairie Ridge (385) was fifth, and McHenry (409) was seventh.
Class 1A Elgin Academy Regional: At the Golf Club of Illinois in Algonquin, Johnsburg finished second and Richmond-Burton third, both advancing to Monday’s Stillman Valley Sectional at Prairie View Golf Course in Byron.
Rockford Lutheran won the regional with a 327. Johnsburg shot a 397, and R-B recorded a 428.
Lauren Winter shot an 86 for the Skyhawks. Ceara Mulvey shot a 96, Ellie Johnson shot a 104, and Julia Warden shot a 111.
For R-B, Lauryn Davis led the way with an 88. Darci Retherford shot a 106, Jennifer Horner shot a 109, and Megan Klode shot a 125.
Marengo had two individuals advance to the sectional: Carlie Seemann (106) and Adriana Georgiades (109). Harvard had three individuals advance: Joelle McMillan (108), Jennah Brookner (108), and Emma Ackland (110).
Marengo and Harvard tied for sixth overall, each with a 463.
