High school girls swimming: Crystal Lake co-op beats McHenry, sets three pool records

Valerie Tarazi helped set three pool records Thursday as the Crystal Lake co-op girls swimming team beat McHenry, 110-63, in a Fox Valley Conference dual at McHenry West.

Tarazi set individual pool records in the 100-yard freestyle (52.14 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:03.64), while the 200 medley relay of Lauren Niemann, Tarazi, Makayla Nietzel and Julia Gindorf set a record with a time of 1:52.83.

Gindorf won the 50 free (25.79), Lauren Bednaroski won the 500 free (6:00.66), and the 200 free relay of Gindorf, Nietzel, Niemann and Tarazi won with a time of 1:45.08.

McHenry's Caileigh McCafferty won the 200 free (2:00.46) and 100 butterfly (1:01.83), and Melisa Nava won the 200 IM (2:21.87) and 100 backstroke (1:03.82). Bridget Bantner, Nava, Raquel Salinas and McCafferty won the 400 free relay (3:58).
