Woodstock North's girls tennis team defeated Johnsburg by one point Monday to claim the Kishwaukee River Conference Tournament championship.
The Thunder won with 22 points, Johnsburg (21 points) was second, and Woodstock (19) was third. Marengo (6) finished fourth, and Burlington Central (1) was fifth.
The tournament was scheduled originally to start Saturday, but rain postponed the entire meet to Monday. Woodstock and Woodstock North hosted.
Woodstock North's Aly Cullotta was 5-0 and placed first at No. 1 singles, Lesly Guarneros and Jenny Garcia (3-0) finished first at No. 3 doubles, and Cassandra Howell and Maddie Noonan (3-0) were first at No. 4 doubles. Also for North, Faith Vela and Rachel Packard (2-1) were second at No. 1 doubles, and Anicca MacKay-Slavin (1-1) placed second at No. 3 singles.
Johnsburg's Abbie Cittadino and Kamile Aleksaite (3-0) were first at No. 1 doubles, Melinda McBride and Emily Owen (3-0) were first at No. 2 doubles, and Lauren Hendrixson (2-0) was first at No. 2 singles. Samantha Knutilla (3-2) was second at No. 1 singles, and Alex Mendlik and Zoe Borg (2-1) were second at No. 3 doubles.
Woodstock's Ashley Peralta (2-0) finished first at No. 3 singles, Molly Griffin (2-1) was second at No. 2 singles, Alex Norgard and Meghan Sutter (2-1) were second at No. 2 doubles, and Emma Martin and Sarah Caspari (2-1) were second at No. 4 doubles.
