This is in response to Jack McInturff’s letter Sept. 28. My questions then would be: What is the proper way, and where is the proper place? I’d suggest you look at what Jackie Robinson said years ago about standing for the anthem. Easily Googled. It states clearly why he felt the way he did. Colin Kaepernick echoed those sentiments last year when he started this protest. Using your own words, “The flag and hymn are symbols for JUSTICE for all.” And you stated they are protesting “racial INJUSTICE.” The fact that we’re having the same conversation decades later means the football players aren’t the ones getting this incorrect, it’s many of us. Yes, “the same old thing” still is going on. It’s been going on for hundreds of years now, and will continue until we learn how best to deal with it.
