CRYSTAL LAKE – The Crystal Lake Fire/Rescue Department is hosting its annual open house this weekend.
The community is invited to come out from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to Fire Station 1, 100 W. Woodstock St., for interactive and educational activities for the whole family.
There will be displays of firefighting gear, fire engines, ambulances and more.
There also will be tours of the fire station, hose drills for kids and practice exiting a house from the department’s safety house.
Firefighters will demonstrate side-by-side fire sprinkler activation, fire extinguisher use and door breaching.
There are other groups and partners that will be at the station, including a Flight for Life helicopter and crew, Nicor Gas, Southeast Emergency Communications Center dispatchers, The Salvation Army and Crystal Lake police.
Attendees can park at the Crystal Lake municipal complex or the parking lot across from 110 W. Woodstock St.
