To the Editor:
I know the perfect leader has not yet been born. President Donald Trump, Gov. Bruce Rauner, Hillary Clinton or House Speaker Mike Madigan need to broaden their views. Trump and Rauner were elected because they came from a different background and with hope they would offer a different solution to our problems.
It seems all Clinton and Madigan know is to tax the worker so he has less incentive to work and distribute the money to the voter. Let’s let Trump and Rauner try their solutions.
I believe we all need to learn we are not the only store in town anymore. After World War II, if you needed a car or almost anything else you bought it from the U.S. Today, all inclusive labor cost of producing a car in the U.S. is about $100 an hour.
The cost in China, home to more than 30 percent of the world car manufacturing, is about $3 an hour. Mexico produces about 3 million cars a year, with 85 percent going to the U.S. and Canada.
Health care: Everyone needs a health savings account, even those on welfare because they also get sick. Doctor visits and other cost would be taken out of the account, and you would receive the balance of the account tax free at age 65, so there would be an incentive to use over-the-counter medication.
You also need tort reform to lower doctor costs. You need a three-person panel who would determine whether the doctor made a mistake and have a preset award. This would lower the doctor insurance premium and lower office visit cost.
