McHENRY – The Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center will offer a walk-in flu shot clinic for veterans Saturday in McHenry.
Eligible veterans will be able to receive the free flu vaccinations from 8 a.m. to noon at the McHenry Community Based Outpatient Clinic, 3715 Municipal Drive, McHenry. Interested parties should bring proof of service, such as their DD214 discharge form.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone older than 6 months get vaccinated annually. Vaccinations are particularly important for people who are at a high risk of complications from influenza, such young children, elderly people, pregnant women and people with certain medical conditions such as heart disease, kidney or liver disorders, according to the center.
The Lovell center is a medical facility that serves active duty military personnel, their families and veterans. The Lovell center will offer a similar walk-in flu clinic Saturday on its main campus in North Chicago, which will be open to active duty military families, military retirees and veterans.
