HEBRON – The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for a 26-year-old Hebron man charged with sexually assaulting a child.
The sheriff’s office responded to a call at 6:45 a.m. in the 12000 block of Hebron Road in unincorporated Hebronfor a report of a sexual assault, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Esau Ancheyta Hernandez of Hebron allegedly sexually assaulted a child at the home, and after being confronted by family members, he fled on foot from the scene, police said.
Agencies – including the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, Linn Police Department and Wisconsin conservation police – are searching for Hernandez who was last seen near Hebron Road by the Illinois-Wisconsin border, McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputy Sandra Rogers said.
K-9’s, drones and a helicopter have been deployed, but Hernandez had not been found as of Friday afternoon, police said.
The Hispanic man was last seen wearing gray pants, a teal shirt and tennis shoes, Rogers said. He is about
5 feet, 6 inches tall and 135 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Authorities have obtained an arrest warrant for Hernandez. Anyone who has seen him is asked to call the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office at 815-338-2144.
Hernandez could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted of his charge, predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, police said.
