LAKEMOOR – A 23-year-old Lakemoor woman was taken to the hospital after the car she was driving rolled into a ditch early Friday morning in Lakemoor.
Lakemoor police responded to the crash just after 6 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Route 120 and Sullivan Lake Boulevard, Lakemoor Deputy Police Chief George Manis said.
Ashley Magnus turned left onto Route 120 from Sullivan Lake Boulevard in front of a truck carrying a crane – the truck was traveling west on Route 120, police said.
“She either didn’t see the truck or tried to beat the truck,” Manis said.
Magnus’s car rolled into a ditch from the impact of the truck striking it. She was taken to Centegra Hospital – McHenry with minor injuries, and citations for failing to yield are pending, Manis said.
Lake County Sheriff’s deputies also responded to the scene to help close surrounding lanes and direct traffic. The area surrounding the crash was closed for about 30 minutes, Manis said.
Lake County’s official transportation Twitter account warned commuters of “heavy delays” in a tweet sent at 6:42 a.m.
