JOHNSBURG – The Johnsburg Police Department is investigating several car burglaries that happened overnight in the Chapel Hill Estates subdivision area.

The department sent out a Nixle alert about 9:20 a.m. Friday regarding the burglaries and asked for the public’s assistance in gathering information about the crimes that occurred sometime between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating several similar crimes that happened in the Pistakee Highlands area of McHenry County, north of Johnsburg, overnight Tuesday.

“As a reminder, please do not leave valuables in vehicles or leave vehicles unsecured,” the alert from Johnsburg police said.

An undetermined amount of money and a pack of cigarettes were stolen from vehicles that were unlocked, Johnsburg Police Chief Keith Von Allmen said. No vehicles were damaged to be burglarized.

There are no leads at this time, Von Allmen said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Johnsburg Police Department at 815-385-6024.

“If you see or hear suspicious activity, please call the police immediately,” the alert stated.
