High school boys cross country: Huntley wins Class 3A regional title; Jacobs' Albrecht wins individual honors

Huntley boys cross country won the Class 3A Hononegah Regional in Saturday in Rockton.

Ian Geisler (16:09) finished third, Jeremy Roe (16:11) finished fourth, Josh Segura (16:12) took fifth and Chris Simek (16:21) finished in eighth overall.

Jacobs also advanced its entire team and junior Zach Albrecht (15:47) won the individual title. Jacob Melgosa (16:19) finished in sixth and Mark Lemke (16:20) finished seventh.

Huntley’s 34 points edged Jacobs’ 53.

Class 3A Palatine Regional: Dundee-Crown, Cary-Grove and McHenry advanced their entire teams.

McHenry’s Maki Mohr (15:41) finished fourth and Andrew Pilat (15:42) took fifth. D-C’s Adam Swanson (15:44) finished seventh and Anthony Hurgoi (15:51) took 11th. The Chargers took second overall behind Lake Zurich.

For C-G, Derek Warren (16:00) was 17th.

Class 2A Burlington Regional: Crystal Lake Central, Crystal Lake South and Hampshire all qualified for sectionals.

South’s Jack Becker (15:11) finished second behind Kaneland’s Matt Richtman (15:08). Santiago Arreola (16:03) finished first for Hampshire.

Josh Antongiovanni (16:28) led Central, which finished third as a team.

Class 2A Antioch Regional: Prairie Ridge finished fourth, advancing its entire team. James Lasak (17:15) took ninth and Ryan Figgins (17:36) finished 18th.

Richmond-Burton’s Nick DeGroot (17:30) qualified individually in 13th place.

Class 2A Belvidere Regional: Woodstock finished fifth and qualified its entire team for sectionals. Julio Arellano (16:38) finished seventh and Aiden Schleutermann (16:57) took 14th.

Also qualifying individually was Woodstock North’s Aidan Filetti (17:56) in 29th place.

Class 1A Winnebago Regional: Marengo, Marian Catholic and Johnsburg all qualified for sectionals.

Johnsburg’s Tim Bertulis (14:37) took second overall. Ben Guzick (16:00) finished 20th.

For Marian, Ryan Jones (15:15) was fifth and Peter Walsdorf (15:43) was 12th.

Marengo’s Alex Leonard (15:35) took ninth and Luke Chaffin (15:59) was 19th. The Indians finished second behind Rockford Christian.
