WOODSTOCK – Woodstock School District 200 soon will welcome award-winning Spanish children’s author Margarita del Mazo. She will visit from Monday to Thursday and conduct storytelling sessions with group of students from kindergarten to fifth grade. She also will run after-school workshops for teachers.
Although she studied law, del Mazo has published 17 pieces of work since 2009. They have been translated into 12 languages.
Her children’s stories have earned literary prizes, and she has collaborated with schools and libraries in Spain, as well as institutions such as the Cervantes Institutes and the Reina Sofia National Museum. Some of del Mazo’s books are included in District 200 libraries and in third-grade Spanish-literacy units.
