CARY – A Cary man was found guilty of a drug-related felony after a 2016 crash that led to the discovery of cocaine.
Matthew D. Armbrust of Cary was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance after a bench trial before Judge James Cowlin, according to a news release from the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
The charge originated in November, when Armbrust crashed his car into an electric pole near 1118 E. Main St. in Cary. A passenger in the front seat was trapped and had to be freed.
During the investigation, officers discovered a small amount of cocaine in the car, McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputy Sandra Rogers said.
Armbrust’s sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 15. He could face one to three years in prison.
