The Wolves, who have won three straight regional championships, committed only two serve-receive errors the entire match. Prairie Ridge was going for its first sectional title since 2012.
“It was just different weird things that happen sometimes,” Wolves coach Stefanie Otto said. “I can’t pinpoint any one thing in particular. From where they started to where they ended, we’ve come very far. I told them after, ‘You have to be one of the most improved teams I’ve ever had.’ ”
Maddie McGuire led the Wolves with 11 kills and a block, Erin McNeil had nine kills and a block, and Jayden Otto had 41 assists, 11 digs, an ace and a block. Mackenzie Garis had 23 digs, Trinity Sheridan had six kills and a block, and Emily Baudin had five kills and an ace. Olivia Annen had five kills and two blocks, and Kelsy Turskey had 14 digs.
Prairie Ridge loses five seniors: McNeil, Garis, Emily Baudin, Turskey and Hannah Olsen.
“They brought a lot of passion,” Otto said of her five seniors. “Good enthusiasm and encouragement to their teammates. Their presence will definitely be missed.”
