Harvard fire kills 14 chickens, destroys barn on Route 14

HARVARD – A tractor and 14 chickens were lost in a Harvard fire that destroyed a barn Sunday, fire officials said.

The fire began at 1:55 p.m. in Harvard, 8701 Route 14, damaging a midsize barn and trailer-style recreational vehicle, Harvard Fire Chief Steve Harter said.

Firefighters put out the blaze in about 20 minutes.

An estimated value of the damage was not available Monday.

The fire remains under investigation, although it appears to have been an accident, Harter said.
