Last week I received a video chat from one of my kids showing me their Christmas decorations. This is the second one in the family who has started to decorate before Thanksgiving. What is with that?
Let’s not forget Thanksgiving. This is the time of year that we should look back and acknowledge the blessings that got us to this point.
I hope this Thanksgiving you will give an extra look at all of the nonprofit organizations that are managing challenging situations every day. They do their job with patience, foresight and grit. Every day they overcome obstacles so that you can live in a healthier community.
Our nonprofits are sheltering the homeless; providing rides and companionship to the elderly; mentoring and teaching kids; providing the underinsured with health care; fostering abandoned animals; advocating and caring for individuals and families in crisis; giving hope to the broken; managing our open lands and environment; and more.
This Thanksgiving season, take note of the helping community – they are making an incredible difference.
If you know someone working in a nonprofit, take time to say thank you to them. Whether they are a paid staffer or a volunteer, saying thank you will mean a lot to them.
Giving Tuesday is Nov. 28. This is another way to acknowledge and support the helping community.
This movement has really taken off – are you part of it? Please consider joining it this year. Just Google #GivingTuesday if you are not sure how to connect, or ask a nonprofit. Your support is a gift of hope, a gift of healing.
Please consider giving to a nonprofit either directly or through Giving Tuesday.
