The C-G sideline erupted into chaos. The Trojans led, 13-10, with 59 seconds remaining in Saturday’s Class 6A second round matchup.
The Prairie Ridge sideline was an altogether different experience. For Wolves fans, there was genuine concern that Prairie Ridge might lose – a concern they haven’t experienced too often over the past two years.
So late in the game, it could have been a demoralizing turn of events.
“Everybody’s got to do their job,” Wolves senior linebacker Joe Perhats said of Ferrell’s touchdown. “Unfortunately, we made a few mistakes, and that didn’t help us in that situation.”
It’s hard to get any athlete, football player or otherwise, to admit there is ever a doubt.
So was there any doubt in the Prairie Ridge defense as it came off the field having allowed C-G to score what might have been the game-winning touchdown?
“A little,” senior linebacker Jacob Ommen said.
