HARVARD – Police found cocaine and drug paraphernalia on a man who was sitting in a reportedly stolen car over the weekend, officials said.
Harvard police were investigating a possibly stolen vehicle spotted at 5:35 p.m. Saturday at Walmart on McGuire Road in Harvard.
A relative of the car owner, Joseph D. Shaffer, 31, of the 9000 block of County Road B, in Sharon, Wisconsin, was sitting in the vehicle in a Walmart parking lot, police said.
Also in the car was Lacey M. Kellogg, 31, of the 300 block of South Pearl Street, Janesville.
During a police search of the vehicle officers found less than 15 grams of cocaine, court records show.
Shaffer is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The passenger in the vehicle, Kellogg, was arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court on a previous charge of delivery of a controlled substance, according to the release.
Kellogg was taken to the McHenry County Jail while authorities arranged her transportation to Wisconsin.
Neither Kellogg nor Shaffer was charged in connection with the stolen vehicle.
Shaffer remained in the McHenry County Jail on Tuesday on $15,000 bond. He is due back in court Wednesday.
