As for the new Turkey Ball Bash on Benton Street in Woodstock, Bryson Calvin, owner of MainStreet PourHouse, said the event originated as a way to draw people to the Woodstock Square on a night when “people like to imbibe in libations.”
“We try to take advantage of when the masses are already going to be out and about,” said Calvin, who has attended the Turkey Testicle Festival in Huntley for years.
“It’s a great event they started over there,” he said. “We’re going to model ourselves after that.”
The Benton Street Turkey Ball Bash will be from 3 p.m. to midnight Nov. 22 with live music from Gregory Robert, Peter and The Versatiles, Man Called Noon and Kevin Purcell and the NightBurners. Admission is $10 a person and includes one drink ticket.
Calvin ordered about 100 pounds of turkey testicles for the inaugural event with the idea to host it annually and draw more people every year. He said they’ll fry up their turkey testicles in their own MainStreet PourHouse spice.
“I know people think it’s gross,” he said. “It’s really not too bad.”
