Letter: Put down your phone during check out

To the Editor:

Please post this message to everyone who is doing their holiday shopping and for all the cashiers who are trying to assist you in the checkout lane or the self checkout lanes. Please stay off your cellphone while checking out unless it is a true emergency. It is extremely frustrating for the cashier to try and find out if you need gift receipts, have coupons or need cash back. Furthermore, it is rude to everyone in line behind you waiting to check out. If your phone call is that important, then please step out of line and let us do our job and try to move everyone through the checkout process more efficiently. Thank you from a cashier.
