Boats catch fire Sunday morning in Algonquin

Cause of fire is under investigation

ALGONQUIN – Two boats caught fire Sunday near the Fox River.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was dispatched at 2:57 a.m. Sunday
to 811 N. Harrison St. in Algonquin after a reported boat fire.

Firefighters arrived at the scene at 3:04 a.m. and found two boats engulfed in flames, according to a news release from the district.

The fire was extinguished about 10 minutes later, but crews remained at the scene for more than two hours investigating its cause. It still is under investigation, officials said Sunday.

There were no injuries, and the cost of damage is not yet available.
