Spring Grove man in critical condition, faces DUI charges after crash

SPRING GROVE – A 38-year-old Spring Grove man faces driving under the influence charges after a crash that left him in critical condition Wednesday, police said.

The crash happened at
2:19 p.m. Tuesday when Joshua Fauser was driving a 2001 Jeep Cherokee north on State Park Road, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

As Fauser neared the curve onto Main Street, his car veered off the road and struck a tree, police said.

The crash left Fauser trapped in his Jeep, requiring police and fire officials to remove him.

A Flight for Life helicopter landed behind The Liquor Hole, 7237 State Park Road, and took Fauser to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he remained in critical condition Wednesday, according to the release.

Police said they believe Fauser was under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the crash.

He is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the combined influence of alcohol and drugs, according to the release.

Fauser’s first court appearance is scheduled Dec. 14.
