LAKE IN THE HILLS – The village of Lake in the Hills is implementing new measures to encourage drivers to slow down after concerns were brought before village officials about speeding on Crystal Lake Road.
A speed study was conducted along Crystal Lake Road in response to the concerns, according to a news release from Lake in the Hills Police Department.
The study showed the average speed was high enough to warrant implementing methods to reduce speeding. The first attempt involved increased enforcement on the posted speed limits, according to the news release. However, efforts only were temporarily effective, with speeds returning back to their previous levels.
As a result, the village is implementing “traffic calming measures” and has installed road narrowing devices in an attempt to modify drivers’ behavior.
The police department is urging drivers to use caution and be aware of their speed.
