FOX LAKE – Route 59 in Fox Lake was temporarily closed Friday afternoon after a six-vehicle crash, a police official said.
Fox Lake Police Chief Jimmy Lee said the crash occurred about 3:50 p.m. in front of the Fox Lake Police Department, 301 Route 59, Fox Lake.
The vehicles were stopped in traffic when one vehicle rear-ended another, resulting in a chain reaction, Lee said.
Several people were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries, Lee said. He said he did not have more information on the people involved or where they were sent.
A citation likely will be issued for the driver who started the chain-reaction crash, Lee said.
Another driver involved in the crash was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, Lee said. He said he did not have more information on the person who was arrested for DUI.
All six vehicles were towed, Lee said. The road reopened after being closed for about 30 minutes, according to a Nixle alert from police.
