High school wrestling roundup: Huntley goes 2-1 at Plainfield Quad; Silva sets Marian Central record for fastest pin

Huntley's wrestling team finished 2-1 at the Plainfield Central Quadrangular with dual wins over Downers Grove South, 37-33, and Plainfield Central, 42-18, on Saturday in Plainfield.

The Red Raiders (8-1) suffered their first loss of the season, to Glenbard North, 42-21. Sammy Spencer (113 pounds) and Zach Spencer (126) each finished 3-0 for Huntley, and David Ferrante (160) was 2-0. Jeremy Jakowitsch (120) and Nik Wise (220) both went 2-1.

Glenbard East Quad: Marian Central's Luke Silva broke the school record for fastest pin as the Hurricanes went 2-1. The senior recorded a pin in six seconds against Chicago Simeon at 160 pounds, breaking the previous record of seven seconds held by 2016 graduate Joe Herff.

Marian Central defeated Simeon, 54-13, and Rolling Meadows, 41-24, and lost to Glenbard East, 37-33.

Leyden Quad: At Franklin Park, Crystal Lake South dropped all three duals. South lost to New Trier, 42-18, Buffalo Grove, 36-25, and Leyden, 40-30. Going 3-0 for the Gators were Christian Olsen (106), Peyton Timmons (113), and Alex Picchi (126). Brady Weidner (182) and Alec Natrop (285) each went 2-1 for South.
