McHENRY – A McHenry woman and a Lakemoor woman both told police they traveled through a yellow light when they collided Monday in a McHenry intersection, causing police to alert motorists to avoid the area.

Jennie L. Berga, 68, of McHenry was traveling east about 5 p.m. Monday on Route 120 in a 2012 Chrysler 200 in McHenry, McHenry Deputy Police Chief Thomas Walsh said.

When Berga tried to turn north onto Chapel Hill Road, she collided with a 28-year-old Lakemoor woman who was traveling west on Route 120 through the intersection. No one was injured in the crash, but traffic was diverted for a short time, Walsh said.

McHenry police sent a Nixle alert about 5:15 p.m. asking motorists to avoid the area for the next 30 minutes.

Berga was cited for failing to yield, Walsh said.
