CRYSTAL LAKE – The driver of a vehicle that crashed Wednesday afternoon near Crystal Lake was extricated from his car and hospitalized after the incident.
Crystal Lake firefighters responded about 2:55 p.m. Wednesday to the 8000 block of Haligus Road near Crystal Lake for a report of a single-vehicle crash with possible entrapment, Crystal Lake Deputy Fire Chief Chris Olsen said.
First responders found a car in some bushes and trees off the roadway, Olsen said. The driver was trapped because of damage to the door on the driver's side. The driver's foot also was stuck beneath the brake pedal.
Crews were able to extricate the driver and take him or her to Centegra Hospital – Huntley with injuries not considered life-threatening, McHenry County Sheriff's Deputy Sandra Rogers said.
Lakewood police and McHenry County Sheriff's deputies also were at the scene. The sheriff's office is investigating the incident.
The individual's identity and information about any possible citations were not available Thursday.
